I know this is a stupid thing to point out, but technically, it should be that you "couldn't care less about minecraft", not that you "could care less about minecraft". The latter means that you do care, while the former means that you do not. Not trying to be a jerk, I just see this a lot.
I actually don't care much for minecraft now, unless I'm playing with friends, but I would still use MI if I had more time for it. I just like making things, and MI provides a simple way to do that.

One tip, when you're making Pokemon stuff, learning particle effects will be your best friend, I don't know this for sure but I strongly predict it.

It kinda depends on what kind of fight it's gonna be.. like if it's a normal fight between two characters or its a over powered battle. Also, taking physics into account may improve results and if u are looking for examples try stick figure fight animations for moves and combos.
