Then you couldn't see it on the front page and people would be confused, would of used a URL shortener but all I want is to receive honest critique on my wallpaper.

All you need to do is say 'Because you missed it' above the embedded link (although anything below still shows). That's the rule of thumb status phrase for posting a topic in a status. People wouldn't get confused.
