  1. Thank you everyone! I believe I'm going to start making smaller projects in the meantime until I can get the stability I need. This project has done a great job of showing the game design potential of Mine-Imator! I truly wish I could have implemented more things (there was A LOT more planned), but timing is a struggle! I hope to share new creations with you guys in the (relatively) near future! With the knowledge I have of AI now, I think it would be really interesting to make something where YOU are the one being hunted by something. So many ideas haha!
  2. It's finally here Please, feel free to give the demo a try! Windows Mac (Be sure to see the ReadMe too!) What is Mortality? Mortality is a (hopefully) upcoming action/adventure RPG with heavy inspirations from the Batman: Arkham games and Undertale. There are plans for a vast amount of unique characters that will leave you with an unforgettable experience. Plot Many years ago, a great war broke out between two worlds; the Mortal and Immortal Worlds. The Immortals came in vast numbers, but were ultimately defeated, and pushed back into the Immortal World. Now, the gateway has been reopened and three of the most powerful Immortals have entered; wrecking havoc on the Mortal World. With the fate of everything potentially at stake, only one person can stop their takeover, and bring them back to the Immortal World. Will Development Continue? That's honestly a really good question. I'm going to be absolutely transparent here; I'm not sure. It honestly would be my dream to develop this game and publish it. It's been on my mind for years. However, development has taken a lot longer than I anticipated. I've been designing this build of the game since January of last year and hoped to have a fully fleshed out demo with proper cutscenes, character interactions, inventory management, etc, but I'm not there yet. I don't plan on creating a Kickstarter for this project as of now; but that could definitely change with enough feedback and support! If you'd like to help it come to life, please share it and give feedback! Doing anything you can to help spread it will help tremendously! Some Things to Note There aren't any major bugs (to my knowledge)! Any bugs or major things to take notice of will be listed here. This is a very rough demo of the game! There were many more features planned to be in it, but I've unfortunately run out of time to keep developing this game for full time. This demo won't be receiving any updates, but you can check here for anything out of place! Loading text doesn't go away upon completion of loading the game. (Weird, I'm not sure why it does that?) Settings sliders don't function. (This was one of the last major parts I was designing before I had to halt development) How can I Stay Updated? Subscribe to my YouTube account or follow me on Twitter to see any updates to Mortality! You can also look at my account here to see previous posts about Mortality! Thank you for reading!
  3. BIG NEWS EVERYONE!

Later today, I will be revealing gameplay for Mortality!

As well as releasing a playable demo!

It took a lot longer than I expected, but it's coming really soon! Keep an eye out for a new post in the Narrative Animations forums! :)

I'll also be posting this to reddit as well! Please support it as much as you can, and thank you all!

  4. It's been a while! Later today I will be uploading the gameplay reveal for Mortality! Not only that... but there are some surprises coming along with the reveal! I will also be posting the reveal to Reddit in the upcoming days too. When the time comes, please show the game support there too! Actually, I'm too excited; I can't keep a secret. I'm editing this post to spoil what's coming as well. At the same time the teaser is released, a link to the playable demo will be released as well! Keep an eye out for the narrative animations section! For more info about Mortality, please check out this post!
  5. Hello again!

Just wanted to give another update to Mortality! Progress has been great, and I'm currently reworking the AI's movements while in combat. I've made a giant amount of progress in how they organize themselves in fights; hoping to remove all movement stutters by today! 🙂

I've also almost finished updating every animation to every character. To give an idea as to how many frames each character has, we're looking at a minimum of 750 frames to well over a thousand. Glad to be almost done!

  6. Thank you! I'm going to test the animations in my current build and see if I can start putting together footage for a gameplay reveal soon.
  7. Hello! I've been hard at work redesigning all animations! I'm not even half done yet, but I've been working on them every day, full-time for quite a bit. I'm happy to say that the new models have turned out incredibly well and I'll hopefully have all animations done by next week! Here's a list of what's changed from the old animations! Increased resolution Increased FPS for smoother gameplay Three new models! (Originally was the Steve/Alex models) More than double the number of attack animations Double the number of counter animations players can perform Varied attack lengths More fluid attack inputs and controls (well, that's programming instead of animation, but it works really well!) So! To show an example of Mortality's animation potential, here's a demo of two animations that will appear in-game! Follow me on Twitter, YouTube, or here to stay updated on the development of Mortality! What the heck is Mortality? As always, can't wait to show more details with you guys!
  8. Thanks to the flexibility of the new models, I'll be more than doubling the number of attack animations that the player is able to perform! I'm very happy with how they look so far; especially the new evading animation!

  9. I've been experimenting with different perspectives for characters, like moving the camera far back and zooming in, and then moving it relatively close and expanding the FOV. Got some pretty neat results, but I think I've got a solid mid ground!

  10. Exactly! They will definitely have more pixelated textures. A higher resolution texture would definitely look out of place with the terrain and objects; all of which are made with pixel art! I'll be sure to answer more questions in the future, but I can't spill all the details just yet.
  11. Thank you! Fighting will absolutely be a huge part of the game. In order to stay consistent with the environment, characters will be using using lower-res textures!
  12. Hello! Sorry I've been a tad quiet lately, I've been working on perfecting the new character models for a new, upcoming game, Mortality! Of course, with using the base Minecraft model, there is the threat of Microsoft taking some form of copyright action. I believe I've just about perfected the base model, and now I'm moving on to the final two variants of the humanoid models. I actually have a completely working build with combat and movements with the basic Minecraft models, but now it's time to reanimate each character with these brand new models. Wish me luck! In the future, I'll definitely be showing the huge difference in the way characters look now, vs before. With the new models, characters will have much more detailed movements and unique distinctions based on their gender! Plus, characters will have a huge number of ways to show emotions in not only their facial expression, but their body movements as well! Here's a preview of the new model! Follow me here or on Twitter to stay updated on Mortality's development! What the heck is Mortality? Everything you need to know can be found here!
  13. In order to 100% protect myself from any threats of copyright, I will be completely reworking all character models! I've started progress on a new basic model and will begin reanimating all characters soon. I'm hoping to have this done either tomorrow or the next day!

  14. Hello again!

Just wanted to give an update on the development of Mortality! I'm very happy to say that level design has gone very well so far. Once I finish level design, I'll be moving onto cutscenes and then boss fights! I'm incredibly happy with how combat works and I think you guys will like it too!

As always, can't wait to share more information! I also post updates on my Twitter!

  15. Hello friends!

Thank you to everyone for the supporting and encouraging words towards Mortality! I'm going to shift focus back to game development and away from promotional material for the time being. Can't wait to show you guys the current gameplay, because it's honestly solid. Wish me luck!
