Emunator got a reaction from crustyjpeg in Im am really felling empty headed regarding on animations and projects... what should
Here's a few ideas;
History - Animate something that occurred in history, do you have a favorite part of history?
Your life - Animate something that has happened in your life that'd be interesting, even something as simple as eating breakfast would be good for practice
Natural events - EG, Volcanoes, Earthquakes etc
Restrictive animations - Set yourself a restriction EG, An animation but only using triangles
Recreations - Recreate something someones already done, but possibly even better!
Scripting - Create a basic script and then animate it
Animals - Animals are always good practice due to some of their complex behaviors and body language
Recordings - Record gameplay with your friends on a game, and then animate it

Addendum:
The following was sent to my inbox well over a year ago.
This extends to any file I have ever uploaded using Dropbox. This means all files are lost to time, and there isn't much I can do now.
I have however sent out an email requesting access to the account again. I'm not expecting much, but there's still a small shred of hope if you have it.
Until next time fellas.

I want there to be more people but I don’t at the same time. The more active members the forums has, the less special it gets. We’re a very close forum community, and everyone knows everyone else. If it became a large community, it wouldn’t be special anymore.

@Emunator That's a fantastic reply. Good read. This status was mostly for a comparison between two communities that function under different rules, it's interesting to see how things work in other ways for the better or for the worse.
Not really my intention to suggest any rule changes but it is indeed pretty cool to see how open arms and communicative the staff is and that's a good thing to appreciate. And I mean, not that surprising coming from a small community, but I guess that's also something we gotta appreciate. ?

Emunator got a reaction from Rollo in You know, I just joined the Kerbal Space Program forums and they use IPBoard too. But
Granted, for a large community, where its model is based around commercial and marketing reasons, I do feel like strict guidelines would work in that sense. Both to keep order and keep a solid reputation as a company. As well as age mentality.
However as an animation forum, where everything is basically art, opinions and criticism is accepted(Somewhat), I feel like hiding, warning and deleting comments like the above examples would feel like censorship, and questions like "Where's the line drawn for an opinion?" "What is considered spam?" "is some opinions spam here then?" would be asked. I'd rather the forums didn't turn out like that.
And to quote Rollo "They should feel like the forums are for more than just sharing your own creations.", I think that is 100% correct. I know plenty of members here feel like home & have made friends both internally and externally here.
I also believe the forums here are actually quite lenient compared to other communities. I'm sure we all could name a few where if you broke certain rules over there, you'd get instantly banned or get your account terminated, where as here you'd get a point or 2 for that same rule. I think this system works. (Feel free to disagree, we're always open to suggestions)
On the topic of the guidelines, not enough people read the rules as it is, I feel like fleshing out the rules to much will just have people skimming it, or not even reading them.
I also disagree with with some of their guidelines, mainly 3.3 and 4.1.
Mainly the latter, while understandable, if someones account got compromised by any means here, rather then simply saying "Your responsibility, not our problem ?♂️", we'd work to prove account ownership, changing emails, passwords etc in order to give them their account back. Which I have helped with once a twice here for members.
If there's certain things in their guidelines you'd like to see here, we're happy to discuss them. And tell our reasons either for or against them.
Good discussion nonetheless. Always open to new ideas here, even when it comes to the rules.
That's allowed here. ?

Emunator reacted to Dannyboi in You know, I just joined the Kerbal Space Program forums and they use IPBoard too. But
All the rules were why I decided not to join the public KSP community. It's bureaucratic in my eyes. Rollo's points sum up my opinion very well, the forums function well as they are. They aren't exactly the nicest place in the world but that's what you get when half the oldies bail and the community is rebuilt from a completely new group of people, creating a really jarring juxtaposition between the opinions of each side. Also, it gives us less work to do. ?

Emunator reacted to Rollo in You know, I just joined the Kerbal Space Program forums and they use IPBoard too. But
While really strict guidelines like that are good for a game like KSP with thousands of players, this community is relatively small. Not to mention animation and wallpapers take time. We need something to fill the gap, otherwise the forums would feel dead. If there were guidelines banning anything unrelated to animation it would get pretty boring in between wallpaper and animation prime times.
Plus, with such a small community it's good to have inviting guidelines. With a slow-growing community like this along with the big gap between animations, it's good that people don't have to read 6 pages of rules. They should feel like the forums are for more than just sharing your own creations. It's less of a place strictly for Mine-imator and only Mine-imator. Rather a house party hosted by Mine-imator, if that makes any sense.
It is interesting though, and I think it's worth thinking about.

I think the only rule you're breaking is not closing your parentheses

Emunator got a reaction from Rollo in Hey mods, you know that Location field on the profile being a spammy problem? Yeah th
Went ahead and tested it, and it appears i does indeed adversely affect the page when on threads.
Moderators don't have access to this option. (I assume you mean this).
So thank you @Colonel Muffin ?
I'll bring this up to David immediately.

Emunator reacted to Rollo in Hey mods, you know that Location field on the profile being a spammy problem? Yeah th
@Emunator I forget if moderators have access to the admin control panel (if not David does), but there is in-built support to add a character limit.
And the reason I'm bringing up this issue is because your Location is shown next to posts you make on topics, so they could potentially be used to flood the webpage every time they reply (@Wan's actually does this).
-
Emunator got a reaction from Rollo in Hey mods, you know that Location field on the profile being a spammy problem? Yeah th
By fix it, do you mean there is inbuilt support to add character limits, or manually editing someones profile to delete it?
In which case, you can report someone to us and we will fix it.
Just as a side note, if we view a users profile, it doesn't mean we scour' the entire profile looking for things wrong. Most of the time it's from status updates.
As you can see here, your location field box section isn't even visible to me and I wouldn't have noticed unless you gave me an incentive to check. It's even further down for moderators too.(While the scroll bar on the right is large, i rarly, if ever use or look at it, as I use mouse scroll wheel)
Regardless, if there is a fix we don't know about, or haven't used, I'd like to know so I can put this forward to David.
