  1. Im am really felling empty headed regarding on animations and projects... what should i maybe do as a joke or project practice for MI?

      Here's a few ideas;

History - Animate something that occurred in history, do you have a favorite part of history?
Your life -  Animate something that has happened in your life that'd be interesting, even something as simple as eating breakfast would be good for practice
Natural events - EG, Volcanoes, Earthquakes etc
Restrictive animations - Set yourself a restriction EG, An animation but only using triangles
Recreations - Recreate something someones already done, but possibly even better!
Scripting - Create a basic script and then animate it
Animals - Animals are always good practice due to some of their complex behaviors and body language
Recordings - Record gameplay with your friends on a game, and then animate it

  2. Omg your still alive

The forums certificate has expired today/yesterday, David is currently getting in contact in the provider to fix this. ?

  4. I'm thinking of buying a Switch. Can anyone who owns one tell me if it's actually worth $300?

Got mine around a week after it was first launched in stores here in Australia.
      I still play it regularly.

Alot of the issues I've seen and heard online(Case randomly chipping, unknown scratches appearing , over heating etc) are things I've never experienced myself, ever. So I can't speak on behalf of those.

Has a decent range of games generally.
I also recommend getting a nicely sized memory card for it too, if you plan to buy and download a ton of the games via the online store.

The best part definitely has to be the flexibility. While I do enjoy playing with Pro controller, it is still great and enjoyable to lay down lazylike playing with the Joy cons in each hand, while splayed across the lounge(Sofa?). Aswell as being able to play anywhere at anytime. Reminds me of the Gameboy days almost.

Battery life depends on the game, but it still lasts a long time regardless.

Customization alone is worth it in itself.
Dock socks, sleeves, battery packs, handles, controllers etc Can all be custom ordered and bought with pre design templates, or with your own design if you find a seller who does them custom. (I got alot of my custom gear on Etsy)

So yes, you should get one. Lasts a long time if you enjoy the games and look after it properly. :dvdthinking:
      Very much worth it. ?

  5. You know, I just joined the Kerbal Space Program forums and they use IPBoard too. But it amazes me how much more constructive the community is there. In these forums we have only 1 forum topic that explains the guidelines, which in contrast to the like, 6 pages of KSP guidelines it really baffles me.

Not only they explain obvious stuff you shouldn't do (spam, post pornography, racism), but it also explains the user-to-user relationship that is expected to come from any person joining the website. Completely normal things here can result in a warning point in the KSP forums. If you were to post something like "ew... fad... please don't post this" then that would result in a warning point. If you were to post something like "nice", then that would get deleted by a moderator. The forums expect you to write something much more constructive and descriptive than just "nice wallpaper" and to be nice on the way you say things (AKA don't be rude), something that is so common in here and most people get pissed off when newbies don't react in the nicest way. And of course, discussing politics over there is completely prohibited. You can't share your opinions because it's explained it's not the place to do so and it often results in walls of text of arguing.

Things like "dude please don't post more than 2 statuses at a time" would also get you a warning point, and basically adressing any spam INSTEAD of completely ignoring and reporting it will result in punishment, something that doesn't often happens here.

They basically tell you to shut up and be nice in your own way. Most problems we have on the forums here are adressed in those guidelines and guess what, their community is much more past those problems.

    I find it interesting.

Granted, for a large community, where its model is based around commercial and marketing reasons, I do feel like strict guidelines would work in that sense. Both to keep order and keep a solid reputation as a company. As well as age mentality.

However as an animation forum, where everything is basically art, opinions and criticism is accepted(Somewhat), I feel like hiding, warning and deleting comments like the above examples would feel like censorship, and questions like "Where's the line drawn for an opinion?" "What is considered spam?" "is some opinions spam here then?" would be asked. I'd rather the forums didn't turn out like that.

And to quote Rollo "They should feel like the forums are for more than just sharing your own creations.", I think that is 100% correct. I know plenty of members here feel like home & have made friends both internally and externally here.

I also believe the forums here are actually quite lenient compared to other communities. I'm sure we all could name a few where if you broke certain rules over there, you'd get instantly banned or get your account terminated, where as here you'd get a point or 2 for that same rule. I think this system works. (Feel free to disagree, we're always open to suggestions)

On the topic of the guidelines, not enough people read the rules as it is, I feel like fleshing out the rules to much will just have people skimming it, or not even reading them.

I also disagree with with some of their guidelines, mainly 3.3 and 4.1.
Mainly the latter, while understandable, if someones account got compromised by any means here, rather then simply saying "Your responsibility, not our problem ?‍♂️", we'd work to prove account ownership, changing emails, passwords etc in order to give them their account back. Which I have helped with once a twice here for members.

If there's certain things in their guidelines you'd like to see here, we're happy to discuss them. And tell our reasons either for or against them.

Good discussion nonetheless. Always open to new ideas here, even when it comes to the rules.
      That's allowed here. ?

  6. Why am I freaking out right now... (A mod that starts with E and ends with r visited my profile, and I think a warning point would reach me anytime soon...

  7. Hey mods, you know that Location field on the profile being a spammy problem? Yeah that's still a thing. And I know you saw it because you showed up on my recently viewed. And I know you can fix it because I've used your software before.

Didn't mean to sound rude or anything sorry lol this isn't even a major issue right now but I'm just saying. It could potentially be a major issue.

    1. Emunator

      Emunator

Went ahead and tested it, and it appears i does indeed adversely affect the page when on threads.
Moderators don't have access to this option. (I assume you mean this).

So thank you @Colonel Muffin ?
I'll bring this up to David immediately.

      Emunator

By fix it, do you mean there is inbuilt support to add character limits, or manually editing someones profile to delete it?
In which case, you can report someone to us and we will fix it.

Just as a side note, if we view a users profile, it doesn't mean we scour' the entire profile looking for things wrong. Most of the time it's from status updates.
As you can see here, your location field box section isn't even visible to me and I wouldn't have noticed unless you gave me an incentive to check. It's even further down for moderators too.(While the scroll bar on the right is large, i rarly, if ever use or look at it, as I use mouse scroll wheel)

Regardless, if there is a fix we don't know about, or haven't used, I'd like to know so I can put this forward to David.

  9. For any veteran members out there, what do you really mean when you say that the community feels "dead"?

Idk I've said it myself more than once but honestly I feel like at this point the term seems to be thrown around a little too much every now and then. Like, really, think about it twice, what do you really mean when you say the MI forums are "dead"?

      Emunator

@-StickyMations- I already have sent David a few messages regarding this status and the replies in it about two hours ago. (He is AFK/Asleep/Busy/offline though atm)

I sent this discussion to him almost immediately after viewing it.
It's always good when people collectively list their opinions in a constructive way, especially when it can be used to improve things.

So you can be sure, one way or another, he'll be viewing it. ;)

  10. I think a major reason of why the forums is dead is because most of the users on it are 12 year olds with autism.

      Forums aren't "Dead".
Alot of the userbase has since moved to the Mineimator discord.

  11. Are there any Car rigs?

    1. Emunator

      Emunator

There's plenty, however most are usually pretty dated.
Just put "car rigs site:www.mineimatorforums.com" in your google search and you'll find a plethora of them.

  13. Hey everyone. I know I keep coming back here to just post "WOOOWIIIEEEE LOOK AT ME IM BACK AFTER ONE YEAR", but this time I have a question: Does anyone know what happened to Blockmaster239? As far as I recall he just kind of.. vanished. His Steam account was last online over 1000 days ago, too. Does he have a new account or something? I always like his art, rigs and stuff. Thanks.

    1. Emunator

      Emunator

His main forum account was banned almost 4 years ago. I cannot remember if he was permitted back on the forums or not via another account.

You can do this by replacing the head with a body part and re-texturing the body part with the skin of a head, and now the head has bending abilities. There's a few ways to do this but the easiest would be with body parts.

Just to expand on what Patrick meant for you^

  15. Well, I do not understand why I can not get into the Mine-Imator discord group, it says I'm locked, but I've never entered T.T

  16. Hi sorry i over reacted, i am a idiot first to say and just sorry...

  17. Just an FYI, Windows 10 is only protected from WannaCry if you're fully updated. In my case, I had the updates disabled because of my 0.8mbps connection, and didn't get the security fix.

    1. Emunator

      Emunator

Correct, however the patch was introduced in windows 10 before Wannacry was even released.
My post is more referring to Versions which had no protection until just under a week ago.

I'll add a note anyway after my mention of windows 10.

  20. Absurdly I think someone has been downvoting me around my topics.

Wish you could get notifications from downvotes.

      Emunator

If you think a specific user is abusing the reputation system and continuously downvoting your topics PM me with proof and I'll punish the user and reimburse you.

  21. @Nimi Just to clear it up, did @BlueYoshi73 get a warning for what he said too?
Also did he get a warning for the "direct" comment to @Willjago saying to kill himself.

Also I don't remember swearing not being allowed?

    1. Emunator

      Emunator

Whether or not someone got another warning is private and not your concern.

And there is 2 rules regarding swearing in the rules board.
Also what you did was more offensive/inappropriate language, rather than swearing, which is stated in the warning.

  22. Never understood why people ask to be banned, but create alts just to message you asking to be unbanned.
