  6. Jeez, I forgot giving suggestions to creators wasn't allowed. I'll remind Red not to give feedback next time On a serious note, the feedback on Red's input is very disappointing. A lot of the commentators who replied have based their opinions on ill-informed assumptions. I would not like to let this stand unexplained. (Yes, I know I'm late, and there are a lot of comments to catch up with) One of the seemingly common counter-arguments to Red's suggestion is that MC's pumpkin pie item is cylindrical, therefore the 3D model should be allowed to follow that geometry. However, it seems that you haven't drawn the conclusion that MC's item textures are often very different from the actual 3D models used in the game. Minecraft's cake is a great example. Obviously, the item is cylindrical but the 3D object is a square. Thus this counter argument is very flawed, seemingly as it doesn't look at the rest of the game for further information on standards. My point? MC's item textures do not depict the 3D model's geometry. It appears that many of the defending commentators here have made a devastating misconception, believing that Red's statement was in some way "forcing" his style opinion on the creator. However if you actually look at Red's comment, you'll notice that it was actually a suggestion, one that could be denied or accepted depending on the creator's preferences. That is what we do here, after all. After a while, some members were already cancelling Red's suggestion with their own opinions before the creator even got a say in what he wanted to do with the suggestion. It's the creator's choice, not yours. Sure, you can state your opinion, but please don't try to negate someone else's with yours. You don't get to choose what happens with the model either. Maybe offer some of your own suggestions, instead of telling someone else to back off because they attempted to help the creator. Not sure where the "harsh" description came from. The suggestion wasn't harsh at all, just plain and straight to the point with no rudeness. Heck, the suggestion was only 5 words, I'm not sure what's so harsh about that. All other messages sent by Red and I were simply defending the validity of the suggestion. These messages were not even directed to the model or the creator, which is where the assumed "harsh"ness is presumed to be directed to. We weren't even harsh in our defense to the claims that were made. Since when was upholding your own claims considered this preposterous? Your opinion isn't "incorrect", nobody's is. Please don't bring irrelevant self pity into this. Some stated that there was a "flame war" happening in the topic, when in reality Red and I had backed off the field while everyone else attacked the suggestion. A very one-sided flame war, if anything. Once again, we never forced the creator to change anything, it was only a suggestion. Now about "Filled with such things", since when was suggesting considered a bad thing? I'd rather the forums not leave behind users suggesting things to creators. Honestly confused as to where the description "pissy" came from, as far as I remember, suggesting an alternative wasn't labeled as "pissy". Both Red and I acted respectfully while defending the suggestion's validity. Kinda disappointing to hear this come from MI's Visual Designer ? Our intention was not to make the creator feel bad, it is obviously not expected for them to get upset about a suggestion. I have a feeling this might've branched off from all the negativity to Red's comment, possibly giving a skewed perception to the creator. Definitely would've helped if you all hadn't attacked it ? Funny how you mention "mass-downvoting", while your opposing side downvoted significantly more than Red and I ever did. You don't have much room to talk. Once again you claim that our comments are "harsh". I touched on this earlier. Since when was calmly suggesting things considered "toxic"? Neither Red nor I ever stated that the model was ever "wrong". Red's suggestion wasn't a complaint; there's a difference. The funny thing is that Red and I stopped replying fairly early, even before the wave of overly-defensive and ill-informed comments arrived. I don't like making long posts like these, but I wanted to make some things clear. This post was not directed at the creator or the model itself; it is directed at the users mentioned. It honestly saddens me to see the community attack such simple suggestions like this ?

  7. Hello everyone, and hope you're all doing well! It's been a while since the last dev update, a lot of crazy stuff has been going on in the world since then. However despite the madness, I still found time to work on the next exciting update for Mine-imator! Not much progress has been since then, but I figured I would show off some things I've been working on. The renders featured in this dev update were made by @Keep on Chucking. Volumetric fog For those who have seen the last dev update, I showed off the new volumetric rays. Originally, I wanted to make the rays a proper volumetric fog with sunlight scattering through. After revisiting this feature this past Summer, I've upgraded them to a proper fog effect! This effect can be used alongside the default fog included in Mine-imator and there will be an option to switch back to the volumetric rays shown in the previous dev update. Indirect lighting / SSGI New shadows? Improved ambient lighting? There no way lighting can get any better.. can it?! It can. Introducing: Indirect lighting, a secret ingredient among many to making your lighting really pop in your scene by allowing direct lighting to be casted from bright objects automatically, and allowing light to bounce from objects directly lit by light sources and tint the surrounding area! This feature really brightens your scene up and makes lighting a lot easier to set up. However, due to being a screen space rendering technique, the effect will only work with lit objects that are visible to the camera. Inventory After overhauling the rendering in Mine-imator, I'm now onto integrating the rebrand in Mine-imator. Inventory is the name @Voxy has decided on for the slick design language Modelbench uses and what Mine-imator will eventually receive in the next major update. This process will take a while, as Mine-imator's codebase is arguably bigger than Modelbench's. In the meantime, if you have any questions concerning the new interface, feel free to drop them below in the replies for Voxy to answer in an upcoming Q&A post! That's all I've got to show for now unfortunately! While things may be moving at the pace of a snail, I'm afraid things won't speed up any time soon since I'm the only developer working on this update after all, and I have a part-time job and doing full-time college. However there's no need to fret, as Voxy and I are trying our best to make this the best update we can possibly (and reasonably) make it. Until next time, keep on animating. Oh, and of course, one last thing...

  8. Ok so me and @Frost have made a face rig fully in mb that possible to pose multi ways. Its heavily based off blender/maya user mouth rigs.We also did not use alpha glitch for this as doing lighting breaks alpha face rigs or at least the ones we use(hozq's face rig). Pls don't ask for it this is for only my team and personal use only

  9. So let's say you want to do a walk cycle in Mine-imator, but you also don't want to constantly be replaying your animation? What if we add in Motion Paths? It'll kind of be like SFM where you can see where an object is moving. You could be able to draw a line with something when you move it. Another thing about motion paths is that if a plain line gets confusing, you could change it's thickness while also having a 3D display option to help you with animating.

  10. Mineimator1.2.7+python3.7+OpenFace The video of this singing guys comes from Internet I designed several mods for mineimator, if you are interested, I can share them in detail The biggest problem I found is that mineimator takes too long to load keyframes, which is not conducive to my script to convert actions into keyframes.

  12. Hello! I've picked up Mine-Imator after again a number of years, and made something with it. I'm looking to improve, and felt it'd be best to post a creation I consider "finished", to get constructive criticism and learn from it- feel free to judge & give advice if you're able to, thanks! Attempt 1 (10/18/20) - Used what I thought looked good: Attempt 2 (10/18/20) - Used advice from users on the MI Discord, thanks!: If you'd consider, please rate and critique the following: - Posing: (1 to 10 rating) - Expressions (1 to 10 rating) - Lighting: (1 to 10 rating) - Scenery (1 to 10 rating) - Overall feedback /w anything else you feel you should say Thank you to all those willing to help me improve!

    Cel-Shading Project

A little project I've thought of making for a while after I tried it a few months ago with not very good feedback. I'm going to attempt to bring back the Cel-Shading Project, now known as The BLOCKADIA Project. This image is simply a preview (for now), i'm currently working on the Alex version of this, and I'm also trying to fix the weird glitching on the bends.

  20. So one of the FAQs about the account migration is "Is Java being phased out?" and the official answer is no, but I can't help but feel that yeah, Java kind of is being phased out. At the very least, Mojang seems to be presenting Bedrock as the "official" edition, with all the fancy cross-platform play. What really got me thinking this was when they decided that Bedrock should be the one to be titled Minecraft, and they gave Java the official title "Minecraft: Java Edition." Now, it doesn't really seem that bad if it is, but here's the thing: most of the community knows that Bedrock lacks a lot of the abilities of Java (even if that is being slowly fixed), but there's also the problem of the Marketplace: it's stupid. It's an attempt to monetize a creator's ability to modify the game, and I absolutely deplore it. It locks modifications behind a transaction wall, and it removes some of the creative freedom of actual creators. However, this is all based on an idea, and I sincerely hope that that idea proves false. If Mojang keeps Java the way it is (or actually improves it), and doesn't try to force Bedrock upon the community, then I will be perfectly content. TL;DR: I think that Mojang is sort of kind of maybe trying to say that Bedrock is better than Java, and I don't like that.

  21. For the lighting, I actually just used spheres with "only render glow" on. I might do the glasses thing, but I'd have to update the rig. Thanks.

  22. Regarding events taken place in recent topics... If anybody has anything else they would like to say, they can take it up with me personally in PMs or Discord. I’m ready to listen to anybody’s thoughts and opinions if they feel like they were unheard. I’d rather not have anyone hold a grudge against me because of a single flame war.

    3D Pie Model

Imagine being so against one thing not precisely being in the Minecraft style that you bash on the work to the point of making the creator feel terrible and regret posting it, while additionally mass-downvoting everyone who even dares to disagree with your harshness. No wonder people consider this community to be toxic. Hope you're real proud of yourselves.

    3D Pie Model

Minecraft's in-game pumpkin pie is round in the texture so your point makes no sense. Not everything has to be exactly minecraft, geez, let people explore some styles freely without nitpickings things like this. It's a good looking rig. I'd rather use this rig than a square pumpkin pie ngl.

    3D Pie Model

9red and forst not everyone follows the mc rules down to a key if we did their would be no bending. Now for clear problems while their is no problem making a model voxel It would look alot more appealing and alot more style consistent if u were to make it square. This is a asset that others would use so it would be better to follow the most common style! But! Thier is nothing wrong with making a voxel like pie if its fits your style! That being said while i personally would not use it some others might enjoy it here is a good model would like to see more from you in the future! But keep in mind that if your making these assets for public use to follow a style!

    3D Pie Model

I've never seen either of you being this against a rig/model of this style before, despite hundreds of them existing. Some of which are much worse than this one. You're acting like he made it out of cylinders or something. Calm down. EDIT: Thanks for all the downvotes, you two... guess that's what I deserve for having another incorrect opinion, huh.

    3D Pie Model

This just doesn't fit with minecraft. Minecraft isn't a voxel game, and this pie model is very voxelized and has a high surface count. It just doesn't match anything. Here's a good reference to go off of when it comes to modeling round objects.
