The Way Some People Judge Content And Why It's Kinda Stupid I've been using Mineimator for about a year now, and I feel like I've grown so much in my abilities as a rigger, an animator, a map builder, and just a content creator as a whole. I used to be really bad and made some really crappy animations like you'd see any other new person make. And I've made some really broken rigs and models that didn't look very good or work properly when I first started out. But now almost everything I make looks absolutely amazing and I'm so confident in my skills I would even consider myself a professional MI user. But like I said I wasn't always good, I started out making F.N.a.F. rigs which everyone reading this knows is hated by some of the community. I personally got hate by a few people on the official Mineimator Discord just because it was F.N.a.F. which totally put me down and made me really upset as any new content creator would feel. It makes you feel like you'll never get good, and you'll never be able to achieve that goal you just set out for yourself because you think you're not good enough and never will be. I feel like just the way people treat others just because of something they like or have an interest in is more "trashy" or "cancerous" than what those kinds of people are saying the content creator's work is. It's honestly really just childish and immature and I hate seeing it which is partially why I'm writing up this little rant/speech you're reading right now. My question to those people is, why? Why waste your time typing out messages just to feel like you're stronger or better than somebody else and just to push them down when you could be trying to make a good reputation among this community and others. Do you really just want to be seen as that guy who just says "ew fad" all the time? Why not try to help people, instead of just telling them their content is bad tell them what they could improve on. How do you expect to live a good happy life and have people treat you right if you don't do the same others? What about a future job you want? Who would want to hire somebody who used to or still trash talks people on the internet and harasses them about things they like just because they don't like it? Now onto the present, how I've come this far and how I'm recognized by this community and others. Even though I got put down by some people, I also found others who treated me and my creations like people should treat one another. I got noticed for my effort and even though my content was still kinda "eh" at the time a lot of people encouraged me and pushed me to keep working on what I was doing. Instead of saying "ew fad" after every F.N.a.F. post I made, people actually looked at my content, thought about what I had created, and told me how I could improve. And after that it's been like that ever since for me, yes I still got hate but it was only from a few selective individuals and every now and again somebody new who was just trying to *fit in* thinking that's the norm just because they see one person say the same thing over and over again about somebody's post. But I realized those people don't matter, why listen to somebody who has nothing good to say but the same two words every time you make something. People love my content, even a lot of people who hate fad or just don't have any interest in it tell me my work looks good. I'm seen as a good quality content creator by the majority of the communities I'm a part of. What really sucks and honestly upset the most is that I see a lot of other people making new and original content but sometimes they get hated just because it's about or related to a certain thing which is really messed up if you ask me. I understand if you dislike a rig just because it's a retexture, or an animation because it's actually crappy, but you shouldn't just call it trash. You should talk to them about their work and give them some points to improve on, for example if the rig is just a retexture of another rig, tell them they should try to make something themselves. If one of the legs seems to be having a seizure in a walk cycle, tell them how they could fix it. Nobody starts off perfect, and everybody likes their own things. I don't care if they are part of a fandom that made cringy content or was over saturated or even has porn of it, I don't care if you're into a movie about aliens fighting rocks riding dinosaurs, I don't care what kind of music you dance in your seat to while you're alone driving home from work, I don't even care if you dress up like an animal and go hang out with other people who dress up like that. I'm not going to judge you for what you like or what you're into or whatever something you do is about. I'm gonna talk to you and treat you like you're a human being and that's all I'm gonna do cuz that's how you should treat somebody. If you want to crap on something somebody likes just because you don't like it, you're just acting stupid and immature and you're making a bad name for yourself and probably setting your life up for disaster. I know this rant/speech probably isn't going to change the way some people act. But I hope I at least inspired some content creators to keep doing what they're doing because some people are gonna hate what it is no matter what you do. But who knows, maybe somebody immature will read this and actually decide to grow up a bit. It's pretty rare off me to upload two videos in two days lol. This is a short animation about the problem with sheep always standing on our rails! It's pretty frustrating.

We don't like fad because of this, we don't like it because literally every single rig, animation or scenery has already been done and the oversaturation (spam) in these forums is off the roof just as you pointed it out. If a newbie comes and makes even more content regarding fad, it's not going to be anything new we haven't seen, it's going to contribute absolutely nothing to the community and it will become yet another one to the pile of endless unoriginal content. Ever wonder why the most upset people about this are often veteran members? Because they've been long enough to see literally dozens and dozens of piles of content that is literally the same just the same. It's gotten to the point where David himself implemented a censor to slow down the spam. I honestly think this is a problem of the other side of the coin, people who complain about our overreaction to fad content are absolutely right, but they have it completely wrong when it comes to explaining why we do what we do, they think "you hate it because you are a bad person and you wanna look strong" or something like that. Please, try to understand the reasons fad is disliked before you make any assumptions with zero basis. Regarding the rest of the topic, I agree with you that the way we approach this is wrong. It's refreshing to see a relatively new member like you having such nailed viewpoints and voicing them out in this way, I guess we both can learn from both sides so hey, thanks a lot for making this topic to allow a discussion about this. And please, don't make the font unnecesarily big. It's actually quite harder to read

First, please don't make your text unnecessarily large. Second, we don't particularly like F.N.A.F. content because it's consistently been the largest source of creations that make the rest of us look like a joke. I don't agree with rebuking F.N.A.F. content outright, but it just so happens that most of the time it consists of some pretty horrible artwork. I agree that the Forums can do a better job of offering criticism, but to believe that this weakness is something unique to us is silly. You find this same flaw most everywhere you go. If people want to go, "Ew, stop doing fad," and leave a Dislike on something, I don't really see the issue with that so long as they've been made aware how much the Forums detests that content. You don't make F.N.A.F. content to improve, as it mostly involves more complex Rigs and little movement. If you want useful advice, it would help to make more humble creations for us to critique, follow the traditional improvement process. As I've always said, Fad content that's done well is praised by the majority of us. But, if you want to start off by making advanced content that you don't have the skill to pull off and look like a clown in the process, you'll probably be ridiculed like one. The only advice we can give at that point is to stop making that kind of content until you've reached a level where it looks decent, because at that moment it only highlights your novice status and ineptitude, further associating unworthy content with F.N.A.F. The whole topic is a bit more nuanced than I explained and I can answer any Replies if you want. This community might need some change but the issue of F.N.A.F. isn't a big one.

That's what I've been trying to say for like a year now. The reason I share my insightful, overly-political status updates on here is, well, because I have nowhere else to share them, but also because this forum can be awfully close-minded. And they can get pretty blunt when it comes to fad because it follows every criteria that's been drilled into their heads from the start as just plain bad content. And of course, there is some bad fad content. There is a lot of fad that is uninspired and created not for the sake of passion, but for the sake of a cringey game they like. There's a noticeable difference between art with heart and art without. But since most fad content just doesn't have heart, fad had definitely grown a huge stigma around it. My point is, the forums, for a website made to share creations, is very close-minded, and I'd love to see some change.

I'm perfectly fine with F.N.A.F rigs and such as long as actual effort was put into it, and not a few cubes stuck onto a skin.

I agree on Cobalt Creeper lad, why waste ye time sayin' "ew fad" and other stuff, we th' animators have rights, we get upset by haters who says that. lol I'm actually having a hard time guessing if you're being sarcastic but I'd say no, Fortnite is just a new trend that will most likely die out in a few months just like Pokemon Go, Fidget Spinners and others... at the time David gets to make this program the community will be dead hehe

The deadline has been updated to July 6th! Welcome to the Freefall Collab! In case there's any confusion about what the collab is about, you will be making two entries. One of your character jumping out of the given helicopter, and one of your character landing (for the end of the collab). In your first entry you are expected to include anything happening during the fall, after jumping. It could be anything. Be creative! Or you could have nothing happen. That's also an option I suppose. Remember, and this is very important, your entry for jumping out of the helicopter must be in a completely seperate video from the second entry. First Entry: Jumping out of the plane AND falling down Second Entry: Landing. I would prefer all entries to be 1080p60, but that is not required (it'll just look bad in the final 1080p60 video if you make it worse). Add your own watermark if you can. If you can't, tell me in the message you send with your entry, and I'll make sure to make one for you. Any third-party editing software is great. Go for it. When you are sending your entry make sure you send both at once. It makes it a hell of a lot easier to organize. And please don't just send a YouTube link. It would be much easier for both me and you to send a download link instead for the actual video file. I think that's all I have to say for the topic. Thanks, I was more of hoping to see comments like those here in the forums, but I guess the discord community speaks for itself. I hope this whole thing changes for the better, I do advice you to look carefully on the opinions of Emaniplex, Colonel and me as they all have good points and explanations.

Here's some examples from the MI Discord, you can just search "ew fad" and find all of it and more. The "ew fad" is said so much with other rude and horrible comments and it's just quite annoying and really upsets me seeing people treat each other like this. These kind of people are what this whole post was referring to.

As Emaniplex said, F.N.A.F is the biggest source of MI animations that make us look bad. F.N.A.F doesn't just get criticism for being a really overrated game on here... its also because most of the animations are pretty trash since its all beginners doing the animations. for example: Supah and Mr. Darl don't get much hate since they can actually put F.N.A.F into MI and make it good.

I understand people not liking fad because of it blowing up so much a few years ago and the endless retextures and crappy rigs. I was mostly writing this for the people who just saw "ew fad" just because it's F.N.a.F. or any other fandom even when it's actually good looking and took a lot of time and effort put into it. I mean like me personally, I make some original rigs and models I made from scratch and they're all canon animatronics or some from very popular and loved F.N.a.F. fan games. I have no problem with people disliking F.N.a.F. but to constantly call people's work trash because it's about a certain fandom or has a certain theme instead of telling them ways they could improve and make their work better isn't right. People like what they're gonna like, you shouldn't make them feel like crap about it. Like I said the entire speech was really towards just people who criticize you for liking anything they don't like, not towards the people who just don't like it. And you can still be nice about telling people they should try to do something different instead of saying "ew". I'm not saying you say that, I'm referring to other people I see doing it all the time. And oh sorry about the text, it's my first major post on here and I thought the big text would be easier to read? I made it smaller.

I don't care whether or not you make fad stuff. Mine-imator is for you to express yourself, so if you wanna make that kind of stuff, go for it. Not hurting anyone anyway

On my side I'm still waiting to see a F.N.A.F animator who truly understands why we don't like the type of content... I guess I haven't looked hard enough...

i feel like a trash person Good points. I think we should definitely be a bit friendlier towards fad. Although I give less than 0 craps about it, some people really do like it. As long as it isn't some random poorly made music video thing I'll try to be a lot more encouraging towards people who show some promise as animators.

I know why fad is disliked, I just simply do not care. I make good, original, quality content and I shouldn't be criticized for what I do just because it's fad, instead my work should be judged for the actual quality of it as a render, wallpaper, rig, animation or whatever I make. And if people want to hate it because it's fad, that's fine by me. It's not my fault most of the MI community lacks a sense of maturity and I just simply ignore those who want to act like senseless children.

Spent a half hour testing out model bench. Happy to know I can finally make long arms that don't bend weirdly. I'm trying to make a non-minecraft character. I might go for more Chibi proportions as going too realistic is a bit complex.

Its just another thing that went very far and did very much a lot of things in a very varied way. Edit - Funny enough the word "Fad" is perfect for a censor, because it is/was a popular piece of culture that started suddenly and slowly dies off to be replaced by something else.

Here's some criticism: 1. Facial rig. I see the slight holes around the mouth and around the eyes and they're not good looking. 2. Blue eyebrows are looking weird, but I guess it's because of the skin with blue hair. 3. Make the skin color solid. I see somewhere darker pixels, on the corners of the front of the head. 4. Back to mouth, make it possible to be wider. Now that proportion of the mouth is more like "o", than a "_". 5. You can extrude also these two hanging parts on the body (I forgot the name), make them both straight. You can rotate them later, so it would be similiar to that what you have on the skin itself. On the other side, nicely extruded hair. 6.5/10 (4/10 face, 9/10 extrusions).

try putting the stick closer to the fire, the marshmallow needs a much finer roast to be anywhere near acceptable for a smore
