Well while judging by rep may be a bit wrong, but tell me why do we have rep then? To show which people are more experienced, and if someone hasn't got that much rep it means that they haven't been part of the community for long. People who make actually good stuff get rep really fast and don't get judged badly.. So rep is a indicator of status in this community because we made it to be like that.
