Mlke's Lighting Tutorial

This is a problem I've noticed a lot in other people's work. Take a look at this picture, notice how the torches don't seem to emit the light? In this tutorial I'll show you how to make it work better.

The first thing we want to do is add some particles, there are a few for download on the forums or you could just make your own. Here's the same photo with particles

But now theres the problem of  the particles casting shadows, and the torches casting shadows. So just click on them and turn up the brightness and un-check the "Cast Shadows" button. Do this for the torches and the particles.

Next up is the lava which is very lackluster, so add in a block, change it to lava, make it repeat, then crank up the brightness.

Add in a point light, and your done.
