I know this has been posted before by Zuexs, however his tutorial is extremely outdated, and I would like to show my way to time my animations. I'm posting this because I've noticed a lot of new animators time their animations extremely fast. So here's how:

Images will come soon.

Mineimator 0.6.2/0.7 DEMO

1. Locate the "Tempo" bar at the top of the screen.

2. The tempo shows how much keyframe spaces will pass every second. Meaning when you set the tempo at 20 (the default,) the slider will pass 20 keyframes each second.

3. Set the tempo at a desirable speed. The the lower the tempo, the more time and space you save, but the less smooth your animations will be. Try to keep this 20 or under.

Mine-imator 1.0.0 DEMO+

1. Locate the "Projects" tab, at the default at the top right of the screen. Expand the tab.

2. Locate the "Tempo" bar at the top of the screen.

3. The tempo shows how much keyframe spaces will pass every second. Meaning when you set the tempo at 20 (the default,) the slider will pass 20 keyframes each second.

4. Set the tempo at a desirable speed. The the lower the tempo, the more time and space you save, but the less smooth your animations will be. Try to keep this 20 or under.

If you still need extra help, here's a couple of videos:

I made the second video, "Redcap in Jail." Notice how my video is perfectly synced with the first one. I got the first video and used Windows Movie Maker to record the EXACT time something happened, rounded to the nearest tenth of a second. I was working at a tempo of 10, and this took around 240-250 keyframes. If you still need help, I can't give any more advice.

This seems kind of pointless... You're pretty much just telling people to use the slider.

I know a lot of animators with extreme potential, however they can't get the timing right, like TheMobKiller135. He has to run his animations at around 10 fps to get the timing right. You also have to remember this is also for new animators who have no idea about how to animate.

This is actually really helpful, I didn't know this. THANKS

I'm only happy to help everyone. Although I would expect ZZZZane to know this... Oh well.

I consider myself a pretty skilled animator. I'm also very crafty when it comes to software, like editing software. I, however, had NO idea that a tempo of "20" meant "20 Ticks = 1 second." Skidude once said in a video that "I don't have the exact tick/seconds conversion (ratio)," and something snapped in my mind that there was no logical time conversion, so I would run my animation at the same time of an audio file hundreds (literally) of times to make sure it looked great. Now... I have an advantage. Thank you, SteamPunk Skeleton, for sharing this truth. It was simple, but I did NOT see it.
