So I might as well share some things with you guys.

 

 

How to detach an item from another to create a "drop" effect.'

 

I recently found this neat trick while experimenting with Mineimator. When you have an item parented to a player, but want him to drop the item or set it down, make the object he is holding invisible while at the same time making a replica of that object in the same position as the original be visible. Now you can move the new object around without having it parented to the player. You can reverse this for a pickup effect.

 

Smoother motion

 

Change the transition from frame to frame to a smoother in and out transition when a limb is moving so it is smoother and more realistic.

 

Save frequently

 

Yea yea, you've heard this one before whether it's your brain talking or David himself. But trust me, I once spent 3 hours working on a cave animation only to have my computer overheat, losing everything. This is actually the reason I stopped animating for awhile.
