So, I decided to make a text/image-based tutorial on how to do simple mine-imator functions well.

I hope this helps :D

Let's get started.

Sadly, the most failed thing ever is walking. Plenty of people can't do it well (not to say that I can), and I usually have to walk around to see what kind of walk I want.

Follow this tutorial, and you'll have a good walk in no time!

Example:

Step 1: First things first, pick a starting position for your character, like this:

Next, decide how fast/slow the character will walk. I chose 10 frames per foot swing.

Step 2: Create a keyframe of the whole character, positioned based on the speed of the walk. Then, move the legs about 25in opposite directions, and move an arm (preferably opposite to the forward-moving leg) forward and bend it, while the other one goes back, unbent. In so, tilt the body slightly with the arm moving forward, so as to make it seem like physics are there.

Step 4: Next, create a ~60 degree bend with the forward-moving leg, directly inbetween the two keyframes:

Step 5: Take mark of where the starting position was, and move the second whole-character keyframe to where the backwards-moving leg stays in that position.

Step 5: Rinse and repeat, alternating the different legs, arms, and body movement!

Extra tip: Move the head so that it remains facing forward while the body was changed.

Posture Tips:

1. If your character is tired, make him slouch, with less sharp bends, and have a droopy look to the arms and body, like so: d5ftAS2.png

2. For a leading, confident, and non-sleepy character, make him have good posture, sharper bends, as well as maybe a puffed out chest.

For this example, I made the bend a little too sharp, but you get the point. (see what I did there?)
